Michael Moore Goes All 'Roger and Me' on BoxOfficeMojo.com

By Brian Carnell

If you follow the business end of the film industry at all, BoxOfficeMojo.com is an excellent resource, with excellent historical data on films grosses and other arcane bits of movie industry information. Not surprisingly, then, BoxOfficeMojo.com had a lengthy article analyzing the stunning success of Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11, which became the top grossing documentary of all time in its opening weekend. In comparison, Bowling for Columbine took in less money in its lifetime gross than Farenheit made last week.

After reading through the analysis and the obvious comparison's to Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, however, the next to last paragraph had me laughing out loud,

NOTE: Box Office Mojo asked Michael Moore and company to comment for this story, but they wanted to screen the questions in advance. As policy, Box Office Mojo does not conduct interviews under such circumstances, so there will be no comment from them.

The master of the guerilla interview and his company are suddenly unwilling to do interviews without all questions up front? Combined with Moore's lame threats to sue for libel anyone who unfairly criticizes the film, it seems like Moore is intent on combining radical filmmaking with a Fox News legal department sensibility.
